St. Patrick’s Day, Rainbow & Magic Theme: Lucky Charms

We had more that a wee bit of fun with these stories, songs and fingerplays!

Fingerplays:

Do Your Ears Point Up? 

Do your ears point up? (pull on tops of ears)

Do you have a lot of luck? (cross fingers)

For gold do you dig? (pretend to dig)

Can you do an Irish Jig? (dance a jig)

If you answered, “Yes”, (nod yes)

You’re a leprechaun, I guess! (wink eye)

The Eensy Weensy Leprechaun

An eensy weensy leprechaun came out St. Patrick’s Day, (show tiny size with thumb and index finger)

To look for the gold that was hidden far away, (place had above eyes & look right and left)

Over the rainbow was where he was told, (make arch motion with arm, then point down to the ground)

So, with a wink of his green eye, he ran to get the gold! (point to eye & wink, then pretend to run)

St. Patrick’s Day

Five little leprechauns, running out to play, (hold up 5 fingers)

Found a big rainbow blocking their way! (make arch motion with arm)

Follow me, cried one, running fast and bold, (point thumb at chest, then pretend to run)

And he slid down the rainbow to the pot of gold! (make arch motion with arm, then big circle with both arms)
